7/31 Coffee Filter Flowers

IMG_3613.JPG

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.” -Luther Burbank

Ever wonder if there’s a way to create flowers that will never wilt? Well good news for you: we made colorful flowers out of coffee filters! Before we made these flowers, we learned about the different parts of a flower: seeds, flower, leaves, stem, roots (check out Milena’s awesome diagram below!). Now onto the craft. By coloring the coffee filters with our favorite colored marker and dipping it in water, the color spread to the tips and turned out to be a very colorful and beautiful flower. Our teachers Paulina and Natalia taught us that ink has multiple colors and with the help of water, the colors separate. And this separation of colors is called chromatography. Using pipe cleaners and straws as stems, we made a great coffee filter flower! Check out our beautiful decorations below.
