“You don’t have to brush your teeth, just the ones you want to keep!” - Unknown

Fun fact: teeth are actually bones! We need to keep them clean by brushing our teeth. This way, we can scrub away plaque and keep our enamel strong. We learned that plaque is bacteria that attack our teeth while enamel is like a shield protecting our teeth. We can keep our enamel strong by eating certain foods. What foods are good to keep your teeth strong and healthy? Dairy products (cheese, milk, plain yogurt) contain calcium, which strengthen your teeth. Sugarless gum helps produce saliva to remove food particles. Fruits and vegetables with fiber help increase saliva and fiber keeps teeth and gums clean. What foods are bad for your teeth? Sticky candies are hard to clean off of your teeth. Chips can get caught between the grooves of your teeth. Soda is loaded with sugar and acids that can melt healthy enamel. After learning about our teeth, we made two cute teeth puppets, one for happy healthy foods and one for foods that make our teeth sad. Check our crafts out!
