Racism and discrimination: two words that can be touchy subjects between parents and children. Still, it is important for kids to be informed about these two topics. They’ll be the next generation of politicians and lawmakers, after all! Through this activity, we became aware of what is happening across the country while learning new vocabulary words like advocate, systemic racism, embracing, and tolerance. There was a guest speaker, Lesrene Browne, who shared her experience as a black high school student and woman in our nation today. We then created our own protest posters showing our support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Although not all of us were able to attend actual protests, we hung the signs in our rooms or outside to show our unity.
